The Art Department at Southern Connecticut State University invites professionals in the field of Graphic Design committed to college teaching and knowledgeable in screen-based media such as interactive design, web design, mobile application development, and/or motion graphics to apply for a full-time tenure-track position in Graphic Design at the Assistant Professor level.

The SCSU Art Department offers undergraduate majors in Art History, Art Education, and Studio Art, with concentrations in Ceramics, Graphic Design, Jewelry and Metals, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: 
Teach Graphic Design courses from introductory to advanced, with a focus on developing students' skills related to interactive design and other screen-based media. Help to advise and mentor students, develop curriculum, coordinate internships, supervise adjunct faculty, manage lab facilities, and participate in departmental recruiting and governance while sustaining professional and academic work appropriate to the discipline. Nominal teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester (currently two courses). Research/creative activity in area of expertise, professional participation, and university service are expected of all faculty at Southern Connecticut State University. 

Required Qualifications: M.F.A. in Graphic Design or related field or equivalent terminal degree by time of appointment; successful discipline-specific teaching experience at the college level; strong professional skills; interest in pursuing research/creative activity; interest in working within a liberal arts environment and developing collaborative professional relationships across the University. 

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience beyond teaching assistantships and strong skills and interests in the areas of interactive design cited above.
